Chainsaw Man Character Overview

Chainsaw Man is a Japanese horror manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Its first part was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020; its second part began serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ online magazine in July 2022.

It contains 97 chapters of the first part into eleven individual volumes. As of August 2022, the manga had over 15 million copies in circulation. 

Its likable cast of characters is one of the main reasons for its immense popularity. "Chainsaw Man" anime will start airing on  October 11, 2022, by studio MAPPA widely known for Jujutsu Kaisen and the fourth season of Attack on Titan.

10. Hirofumi Yoshida

Hirofumi Yoshida is a Private Devil Hunter. He has contracted with the Octopus Devil and is skilled in hand-to-hand combats. He can summon Octopus Devil's tentacles by crossing his middle and index fingers. By saying "Ink" the tentacle will produce a large black smokescreen. Yoshida uses this to blind his opponents and attack.

9. Pochita

Pochita is the Chainsaw Devil. He makes a contract that prevents Denji's death and fuses with him. After fusing with Denji, he can communicate with him in his mind. He continuously communicates with Denji in his dreams, warning him to not 'open the door'. He is regarded as the Devil that Devils fear the most.

8. Kobeni

Kobeni is a Public Safety Devil Hunter. She is the most cowardly one among all the characters of Chainsaw Man, though her skills with a knife also show that she's not nearly helpless as she seems. She is forced by her parents to work and earn money to be able to send her elder brother to college. She loves Ice Cream.

7. Kobeni's Car

Unexpectedly, Kobeni's car is the seventh most popular "character" in Chainsaw Man manga. Kobeni's car seems to resemble a Flat 500, an Italian economy car produced from 1957 to 1975. Kobeni is forced to Power to give her a ride in his car. Power's reckless driving results in severe damage to the car which leaves Kobeni in shock.

6. Angel Devil

Angel Devil considers himself to be a devil first and an angel second. He is very lazy and often refuses to work. He can absorb the lifespan of humans by just touching them. He is among the strongest Devil Hunters but his laziness holds him back. He can create "Lifespan weapons" that have supernatural abilities and can instant kills anyone depending on their usage. He loves Ice Cream but he can eat pretty much anything.

5. Denji

Denji is the protagonist of the manga.  He is not as smart as other shonen manga protagonists but he is very honest and has a very dumb straightforward personality. While he may not be smart, his clever ideas help him to defeat devils quickly. He is forced to work as a Devil Hunter to pay his father's debts. Denji is unsure of what he wants in his life. Most of his actions are fueled by his sexual desires. As the story progress, it becomes more evident that Denji is emotionally damaged and wants to be loved by someone.

4. Reze

Reze is the Bomb Devil and the arc antagonist, she is sent by the Soviet Union to steal Chainsaw Devil's heart. She appears to have a crush on Denji and isn't afraid to be intimate with him. Her true feelings towards Denji remain unclear.

3. Aki 

Aki Hayakawa is another main character of Chainsaw Man and a fascinating take on a shonen rival. He is always serious and resolved that Power and Denji. He had contracts with the Curse Devil and Future Devil, and a former contract with the Fox Devil. His actions are fueled by his vengeance toward the Gun Devil who is responsible for the death of his family. He is in a complex relationship with Himeno, his closest friend, and appears to be confused about his true feelings.

2. Makima

Makima is one of the most exciting Shonen villains in the Chainsaw Man manga/anime. She is extremely cunning and manipulative. She takes care of Denji as her human pet. Makima is later revealed as the Control Devil. She is one of the strongest individual individuals in the world of Chainsaw Man. Despite her actions, her abilities, strong motivation, and personality make him one of the most likable Chainsaw Man characters.

1. Power

Power is the most liked Chainsaw Man character of all time. Power's childish, greedy personality is her strongest trait. She is self-motivated and has had no problems running away in case things go wrong. She is very rude and doesn't like being ordered.

Power is a blood fiend. She can manipulate her and other people's blood into any weapons she wants. She is known to have some resistance to Makima's manipulation abilities so as her name "Power".
